Happy New Year everyone!
We have fingers crossed that we will be able to start back to class on the 22nd and 23rd of February. Obviously that will depend on all the covid restrictions on gatherings at that time. Our class schedule is exactly the same as the end of last year. It is posted on the Class Schedule page.
We are still going ahead with the run throughs starting January 6 in the evening at 6 pm. Novice will go first - then open at around 7 pm - and utility starting around 8 pm. Parking lot will be plowed tomorrow for us by Rick Roberts. Thank you Rick!

Clarification on Thursday evening run throughs. They will only run every Thursday in January and Feb 3rd. After that regular class nights begin and the run thru rental stops.

We have one more week of classes in this session!! So ending right before Halloween.
We will be offering a 4 week mini session from November 2nd and 3rd to November 23 and 24th. We will be asking you - at classes this week - if you are interested in attending those extra 4 classes. Cost will be $45.00 for the mini session. Vaccines for humans and dogs are a must!!
There will be a change to the Tuesday night line -up in that we now have enough dogs qualified to attend a beginner Utility class again. Utility has traditionally been in the time slot from 8:00 to 8:45 and will be going back there starting November 2nd. Advanced practice will be dropped from the rotation for the foreseeable future. Dogs in that class should consider attending the brush-up class on Wednesday nights.
Update August 25, 2021
Hi Everyone
As most of you have probably heard there is more restrictions coming up in Island Health which we will have to follow to be able to hold classes, so when we ask for your dogs proof of Vaccine we will also have to have Proof of your Covid Vaccine until these restrictions are lifted. I know this is in effect on Sept 13, 2021 but we will require it when we start on Sept 7 and 8 2021 and we will also be wearing masks again. At this point that is the info for our classes. We will keep posting information as it comes up or if anything changes before then.
Unfortunately if we don't follow the rules we will have to postpone our classes which I know none of us want. Thank you all in advance.

Update: January 27th
Hi All!
Just a reminder that our AGM will be held by zoom meeting on Wednesday Feb 3rd at 7:00 pm. If you are a member of the Club, you should be getting instructions by email on how to join in the meeting in the next couple of days. If you don't get the joining instructions, please let me know and I will get you the email information to join.
A short update on classes that would normally be starting on the 9th and 10th of February 2021.
If Dr. Henry extends the restrictions that are on now we will not get to start classes when we want to. Should and when the restrictions get lifted we will start classes as soon as we can after we are allowed to get back into the Barn.
If we cannot get back into the Barn then we will attempt to do outdoor classes, once the weather is a bit better and it is lighter at night.
I wish I had better news for you all, but in the meantime Stay Safe, Be Kind, Wear your Mask and wash your hands!

The Cowichan Dog Obedience Training Club or COWN has been in existence since 1952.
Our classes will be taking place in the new barn, on the Cobble Hill Fair Grounds, on Fisher Road.

Our club is made up of volunteers who have organized classes to train not only their own dogs but to also teach dog classes for the general public. We offer both obedience and rally classes.
We are dedicated to working with dog owners to help them train and enjoy a successful working partnership with their dogs. We welcome both purebred and mixed breed dogs and humans of all ages.
We offer three 8 week training sessions in both rally and obedience throughout the year. Classes take place on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Sessions begin in September, February and April/May.
